Afya PlusHow We Work

Afya Plus specializes in designing and implementing health systems strengthening programs; integrated and client-centered service delivery interventions; community-based and social and behavior change interventions to increase the demand for and use of quality integrated health services. We build on our strong working relationships with the President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups (MoCDGWSG), and Local Government Authorities to design and implement Interventions that offer relevant solutions to local health priorities.

We foster data-driven programming, technical excellence, operational efficiency, and collaborative learning and adaptation. We have mainstreamed tailored SBC approaches in our programs to implement culturally appropriate interventions that promote equitable access to and utilization of a range of health services while addressing associated barriers and other community-specific needs.

We are using a behavioral segmentation approach to inform a range of social norms that contribute to risky behaviors, prevailing barriers, and unique needs of the targeted populations, which has proven to be effective in designing appropriate interventions. We have extensive experience in health systems strengthening and service delivery interventions and working with community-based platforms, including local structures and community health workers, to improve access to, increase acceptance, and create demand for a range of integrated health services. We are using a meaningful community engagement approach through “SMART” advocacy to engage community-based platforms to play a critical role in closing the access gap, increasing acceptance, and connecting the served communities with essential health services, inform the health system of their specific needs for increasing acceptance and service utilization for better health outcomes.
