Community-led monitoring (CLM) is a dynamic approach to monitoring and evaluation, involving active engagement and participation of community members in assessing and enhancing development programs, projects, or services that directly impact their lives. This method aims to empower communities by giving them ownership of the monitoring process and holding stakeholders accountable for the outcomes.
Afya Plus, with support from PEPFAR through the Ambassador’s Fund for HIV/AIDS Relief (AFHR), undertook a transformative initiative known as the “Imarisha Project” in Mara region. This project, implemented in collaboration with the regional and council health management teams, had a primary goal of improving the quality and accessibility of HIV services. At the heart of this endeavour was the concept of Community-Led Monitoring (CLM), which emphasized placing the voices of beneficiaries at the forefront of continuous quality improvement initiatives, ultimately aiming for better health outcomes.

Congratulations for the good work. We hope the generated lessons will be used to improve access and quality of health services country wide.
